Kaoru Azuma (vo) and Masako Hamamura (pf) played M CUATRO in Amagasaki, Hyogo, on Jan 22, 2018

Simple is best. It's easy to say, but hard to do.

One of the pianists that jazz vocalist Kaoru Azuma places her full confidence in is Masako Hamamura. They performed a live duo show to play jazz standards on the chilly night at the cozy club in Amagasaki City near Osaka.

Hamamura accompanied Azuma on the original chords that the composers wrote for a singer to sing.

Jazz standard songs have been arranged by instrumentalists so that their (solo) improvisational playing would stand out. Hamamura tries to dig out what have been lost in the gimmick.

Kaoru Azuma: "I didn't like this song so much."
Masako Hamamura: "Neither did I. But I noticed something beautiful in it."

The original chords sometimes sound plain, which makes the tone more profound.

Hamamura is also eager to learn the lyrics. She always plays piano to tell the story behind the song.

And Azuma is a voice artist who lives up to Hamamura's attitude to music.

Simple is best. Kaoru Azuma and Masako Hamamura are destined to demonstrate the saying that is difficult to do.
