The Back

Ai Kuwabara released an album with Steve Gadd and Will Lee in 2017.

The work "Somehow, Someday, Somewhere" was created after Kuwabara climbed out of the doldrums, which lasted for about eighteen months, with the encouragement she received from Quincy Jones at Montreux Jazz Festival in 2015.

Kuwabara met Gadd at The 12th Tokyo Jazz Festival in 2013, followed by his another show in Japan that put her in touch with Lee. They hit it off well enough to promise to play together in the near future.

That night the trio played some of the songs from the CD, as well as the pieces Kuwabara wrote for the tour.

Kuwabara turned twenty-seven that day.

It was so exciting for everybody there to celebrate her birthday amid the show.
